Steiff Paddington Bear Set - limited edition, Collectible

Steiff have created this wonderful Duo Set of the adored PADDINGTON and kind AUNTY LUCY - who love each other so much.

We remind our collectors that these two pieces have the same limited number on their white labels in their ears - and Steiff smaller bears are collected over the world because they take the specialists in Steiff workshop much longer to make and dress in the amazing smaller outfits - just look at AUNTY LUCY'S glasses which are small and fit perfectly.

That is the why these two pieces are so collectable.

AUNTY LUCY is approximately 14 cms tall and PADDINGTON is approximately 12 cms tall.

They are both made from the finest mohair mixing the colours of chestnut and brown and they are so beautifully dressed.

They are 3-way jointed (you can move their arms and head) - this means you can make them look at you in different ways.

And their faces are so different - AUNTY LUCY has shiny eyes and round face with hand embroidered nose and mouth - in fact she gives a look of love and kindness.

AUNTY LUCY is wearing a warm brown coat, round glasses and just in case she gets cold, she is wearing a very smart dark hat embroidered with a bright yellow adornment.

PADDINGTON is wearing his worldwide famous bright blue jacket with a hood and just in case Paddington feels cold he is wearing his own bright red hat.

“I’m afraid we’re not going to London after all.”- said AUNTY LUCY “Why not?”- said Uncle Pastuzo “We have a cub to raise.”- said AUNTY LUCY “If we look after this bear, I have a feeling he’ll go far.”- But alas circumstances change. An unkind earthquake strikes their home in deepest darkest Peru and poor Uncle Pastuzo dies from his injuries leaving AUNTY LUCY alone to raise the little cub. The only belonging saved from the earthquake is Uncle Pastuzo’s big battered red hat which the little cub adopts for himself.

AUNTY LUCY longs to take them both to London but realizing her age is against her and that she soon must move into the Home for Retired Bears in Lima she prepares her little cub for a big adventure he must face alone.

“Long ago, people in England sent their children by train with labels around their necks, so they could be taken care of by complete strangers in the country side where it was safe.

They will not have forgotten how to treat strangers.” said AUNTY LUCY with a label round his neck inscribed ‘Please look after this bear’, a suitcase full of marmalade and his Uncle’s battered red hat the little cub sets off to London.

And so begins the wonderful adventures of PADDINGTON Bear.

PADDINGTON constantly writes to his beloved Aunt Lucy about his new life in London and dreams one day she will visit him there.

Now the two will never be separated again with this delightful duo set which captures all the magic of their predecessors making them both extremely proud to follow is such famous paw prints.
